ENGLEWOOD, Colo. —The Broncos have added depth to their defensive line.
Denver signed defensive tackle Lorenzo Neal, the team announced Sunday.
The Broncos released safety Tedric Thompson in a corresponding roster move.
Neal, a 6-foot-3, 325-pound player, tallied 72 tackles, 13 tackles for loss, four sacks and four forced fumbles during his 30-game career at Purdue.
A former honorable mention All-Big Ten player, Neal signed with the Saints after he went undrafted in 2021.
Neal is the son of four-time Pro Bowl fullback Lorenzo Neal.
The Broncos are currently without defensive lineman Deyon Sizer (hamstring). Rookie defensive lineman Marquiss Spencer also did not practice Saturday after suffering an injury on Friday.
Neal will wear No. 68 with the Broncos.
The Broncos signed Thompson in late July after placing Jamar Johnson and Kary Vincent Jr. on the Reserve/COVID-19 list. Both players have since returned to the active roster.
