ENGLEWOOD, Colo. — The Broncos have added a dynamic playmaker to the middle of their defense.

Denver signed unrestricted free agent linebacker Dre Greenlaw to a three-year contract, the team announced on Thursday.

The veteran defender spent the first six years of his career with the San Francisco 49ers, for whom he started 56 games. He notched 455 tackles, 18 tackles for loss, nine quarterback hits, three interceptions, 14 passes defensed, two forced fumbles, two fumble recoveries and a pair of defensive touchdowns.

Greenlaw also has 12 games of playoff experience, including four conference title game appearances and two Super Bowl appearances. The 49ers held the Chiefs scoreless through the first 20 minutes of Super Bowl LVIII before Greenlaw suffered an injury in the second quarter.

The former fifth-round pick played two games in 2024 as he worked his way back from his injury.

According to Pro Football Focus, Greenlaw has recorded an 82.6 coverage grade since the start of 2022, which ranks fourth among linebackers with a minimum of 1,000 coverage snaps.

He was graded as the top available free-agent linebacker by PFF.

A 2019 All-Rookie Team selection, Greenlaw has also twice been named to the NFL Top 100 list.
