The Lead

The Broncos burst back onto the playoff scene in 2024, as they posted their first 10-win season since Super Bowl 50 to earn a long-awaited postseason appearance.

The success marked another year under the Walton-Penner Family Ownership Group's guidance in which Denver improved its win total, as the Broncos have increased their number of wins in each season since an ownership change in 2022.

But as Owner & CEO Greg Penner outlined at the NFL Annual Meeting, the organization is not satisfied with simply reaching the postseason.

"The message now is, 'Nobody should be feeling comfortable with where we are just because we made the playoffs, because our expectations are much higher,'" Penner told DenverSports.com.

As the article details, Penner is poised to lead the Broncos to meet those expectations on the foundation of focus and discipline. Those two values were on clear display in 2024, as Denver overcame salary cap limitations to make an unexpected playoff appearance.

"We do a town hall [within the organization] twice a year, and in the last town hall, I spent a lot of time talking about what our values are. And one of those key values is, we've got to have financial discipline," Penner said "We're going to provide the resources that are necessary to win, but at the same time, we've got to be disciplined."

Penner and Owner Carrie Walton Penner also share an understanding of how leadership must adapt each year to face new challenges.

"I think part of being a good leader is figuring out what is the right approach," Penner said. "Everybody's got individual personalities and different needs."

Yet while the approach and messaging may change each year, the Broncos' high expectations have remained constant.
