ENGLEWOOD, Colo. — A proven difference-maker is set to join the Broncos' defense.
Denver signed unrestricted free agent Talanoa Hufanga to a three-year contract, the team announced Thursday.
A first-team All-Pro selection in 2022, Hufanga recorded 97 tackles, four interceptions, a pick six, nine passes defensed, two forced fumbles, a pair of sacks, five tackles for loss and three quarterback hits in his signature season. He also earned Pro Bowl honors and helped the 49ers advance to the NFC Championship.
Hufanga spent the first four seasons of his career with the 49ers after he was drafted in the fifth round of the 2021 NFL Draft.
The veteran safety started all 17 games in which he appeared over the previous two seasons, and he has recorded 219 tackles, nine tackles for loss, six quarterback hits, two sacks, two forced fumbles, 14 passes defensed and seven interceptions in his career.
A USC product who won Pac-12 Defensive Player of the Year in 2020, Hufanga is a 6-foot, 200-pound player.
