ENGLEWOOD, Colo. — The Broncos have made a move in their backfield.

Denver promoted fullback Michael Burton from the practice squad to active roster, the team announced Wednesday.

The Broncos placed running back Audric Estime on injured reserve in a corresponding move. Estime is required to miss at least four games, which would make him eligible to return in Week 6 against the Chargers.

Burton played 10 snaps on offense and 26 special teams snaps on Sunday in Denver's season opener.

Estime carried the ball twice for 14 yards. The rookie fifth-round pick also played nine special teams snaps.

The Broncos previously announced they signed wide receiver Kaden Davis to the practice squad.
