ENGLEWOOD, Colo. — After nose tackle Mike Purcell suffered a season-ending foot injury against the Chiefs, the Broncos have officially placed him on injured reserve, the team announced Tuesday.

Purcell finished the season with 15 tackles, one sack, two tackles for loss and a quarterback hit.

The Broncos also placed outside linebacker Derrek Tuszka on injured reserve. Tuszka suffered a hamstring injury against Kansas City.

Tuszka has played just two percent of the Broncos' defensive snaps but has been a special teams contributor in his five games with the team.

To fill one of the two open roster spots, Denver signed defensive lineman Sylvester Williams from the practice squad to the active roster. Williams signed with the team's practice squad after Week 4 and was promoted to the active roster ahead of the team's win in New England. Williams was then released before the Broncos' Week 7 game against Kansas City but was re-signed to the practice squad.

Williams, a former first-round pick of the Broncos, played a handful of defensive snaps against New England and made a key stop on a two-point conversion attempt by Cam Newton.
