ENGLEWOOD, Colo. — The Broncos have officially placed cornerback Essang Bassey on injured reserve, the team announced Wednesday.
Bassey suffered a knee injury against the Chiefs on Sunday on Kansas City's first possession of the second half and did not return to the game.
Head Coach Vic Fangio revealed Monday that Bassey would miss the rest of the year.
"The full extent of his knee injury is still being evaluated, but they've seen enough at this point to know that he won't play the final four games," Fangio said.
Fangio added that Bassey's injury was likely to his ACL.
Bassey appeared in 12 games and started three for the Broncos this season.
As Bassey heads to IR, the Broncos could get another rookie back for the end of the year. Denver designated Derrek Tuszka for return from injured reserve and activated his 21-day practice window. The 2020 seventh-round pick practiced Wednesday for the first time since being placed on IR in late October.
Tuszka appeared in five games for Denver before being placed on IR and totaled three tackles and one tackle for loss.
