ENGLEWOOD, Colo. — The Broncos have regained a starting offensive lineman.
Denver activated center Lloyd Cushenberry III off the Reserve/COVID-19 list, the team announced on Wednesday. The team received a roster exemption for Cushenberry, which means he will not immediately count against the team's 53-man roster.
The Broncos, though, placed three new active roster players on the Reserve/COVID-19 list.
Denver placed wide receiver Tim Patrick, tackle Calvin Anderson and safety Caden Sterns on the list, which is intended for vaccinated players who have tested positive or unvaccinated players who have either tested positive or been deemed a close contact. Denver also placed wide receiver Tyrie Cleveland on the Practice Squad/COVID-19 list.
Head Coach Vic Fangio said he believed that under the latest NFL COVID protocols, all four players would likely be unable to play on Sunday against the Chargers.
Fangio said that nose tackle Mike Purcell, who was placed on the Reserve/COVID-19 list on Monday, would be able to return for Denver's Week 17 game.
Cushenberry was added to the Reserve/COVID-19 list on Dec. 23 and missed the Broncos' week 16 matchup with Las Vegas.
