ENGLEWOOD, Colo. — The Broncos added more depth to their pass-rushing corps on Friday, as they signed rookie outside linebacker Ahmad Gooden to the active roster.
Head Coach Vic Fangio told media after Friday's practice that the move was necessary because outside linebacker Justin Hollins has been ruled out of Sunday's game vs. Buffalo because of a hamstring injury.
"Hollins can't play, so we wanted four outside 'backers up," Fangio said. "And he'll be on a bunch of the special teams too. [I'm] anxious to see him play."
Gooden has spent the duration of the regular season on the Broncos' practice squad after spending the offseason with the team. In five games of preseason action, Gooden recorded 13 total tackles and started in the preseason finale. He signed with the Broncos in April as an undrafted free agent.
The Broncos waived tight end Orson Charles in a corresponding roster move.
