The Denver Broncos are saddened to have been informed by the Sellers family that former cornerback Goldie Sellers passed away Saturday night following a battle with cancer.
Sellers, who played for the Broncos in 1966-67, was 78 years old.
The former eighth-round pick returned kicks and played cornerback for the Broncos during his stint in Denver.
In 1966, he returned two kick returns for touchdowns, recorded three interceptions and recovered four fumbles. The following season, Sellers picked off seven passes and returned one for a touchdown. He also recovered two fumbles.
A native of Winnsboro, Louisiana, Sellers played his college football at Grambling State before joining the Broncos.
He played two more seasons with the Kansas City Chiefs following his time in Denver and was part of the team that won Super Bowl IV.
