ENGLEWOOD, Colo. — Rookie wide receiver Juwann Winfree missed his first practice of training camp on Monday with a leg injury.

Head Coach Vic Fangio said Winfree got hit during Sunday's practice.

"His leg wasn't feeling right, so we kept him out," Fangio said.

Tight end Jake Butt (knee) also missed Monday's practice, but Fangio said there was no "major concern" about the third-year player missing his second consecutive day.

"[It is] kind of to be expected," Fangio said. "Just didn't feel right for him, so we figured [we would] back up tomorrow's day off with … a day off here and see how he is on Wednesday."

The Broncos will have their first off day of training camp on Tuesday, which led Fangio to also hold guard Ron Leary out of Monday's practice. Leary is recovering from an Achilles injury.

"That was more protocol," Fangio said. "This is the only time this entire camp where we'll have five days in a row. The rest of the camp, with the days off, the way they fall, it will either be three or four blocks of days of practice in a row. So today being the fifth, just thought it'd be prudent to keep him out."

Wide receiver River Cracraft and linebacker Todd Davis remained out of practice. Tight end Troy Fumagalli and linebacker Justin Hollins both returned to the field.

Offensive lineman Chaz Green exited Monday's practice early due to heat/hydration issues.
