DENVER — Von Miller has a job.
And it's not to worry about how the NFL Draft unfolds.
"I just sack the quarterback and let all those guys make all those decisions," Miller said with a laugh at his annual Von's Vision Reveal Party.
That doesn't mean he didn't like how John Elway and Co. made their selections last week as the Broncos added six draft picks to their roster.
"I felt like we had an extremely productive draft," Miller said. "Dalton Risner, Drew Lock. Drew Lock, he was a guy who wasn't supposed to go past the fifth pick. For us to be able to get him in the second round and be able to get a Dalton Risner as well, a Noah Fant and the rest of the guys as well, I'm extremely excited and looking forward to this season."
The Super Bowl 50 MVP made it clear that he has a singular focus: bringing another championship back to Denver.
This year's draft class — which should feature several players who can contribute right away — should help move the Broncos closer to that goal.
"Yeah, that's what it's all about," said Miller when asked if he liked drafting players who could contribute right away. "We're trying to win right now."
When Miller entered the league to high expectations, he received a call on draft night from former Broncos quarterback Tim Tebow. Miller said that moment meant a lot to him as a rookie, and as such, he's tried to pay the favor forward each year.
Risner and Lock were the latest recipients of Miller calls.
"I was just telling them that I'm excited to have those guys on my team," Miller said. "I'm excited for them to be a part of this squad."
The Broncos' first defensive pick of the draft, Dre'Mont Jones, also caught Miller's eye.
"I saw some of his highlights," Miller said. "He's incredible. Extremely quick and in [Head] Coach [Vic] Fangio's defense, he'll be able to make a lot of plays for us."
Fant, Risner, Lock, Jones, Juwann Winfree and Justin Hollins are all Miller's teammates now — and that means he won't entertain even hypothetical questions about competing against them.
Asked a hypothetical about if he could cover Fant one-on-one, Miller instead turned the focus toward the team's goal.
"Noah's on my squad," Miller said. "We're trying to win Super Bowls together. That's my guy."
