Confirmed/Reported Candidates
Eric Bieniemy
Current position: Offensive coordinator, Kansas City Chiefs (2018-present)
Notable previous positions: Running backs coach, Kansas City Chiefs (2013-17); Offensive coordinator, University of Colorado Buffaloes (2011-12); Assistant head coach/running backs coach, Minnesota Vikings (2010); Running backs coach, Minnesota Vikings (2006-09)
Bieniemy, who has Colorado ties as the Buffaloes all-time leading rusher, has been a perennial head-coaching candidate in recent years as an integral part of the Chiefs' offensive staff. While head coach Andy Reid is the primary play-caller for Kansas City's innovative offense, Bieniemy serves an important role in that process and has invaluable leadership qualities, as Patrick Mahomes has said.

Update: The Broncos completed an interview with Bieniemy on Friday, Jan. 21.
Brian Callahan
Current position: Offensive coordinator, Cincinnati Bengals (2019-present)
Notable previous positions: Quarterbacks coach, Oakland Raiders (2018); Quarterbacks coach, Detroit Lions (2016-17); Offensive assistant, Denver Broncos (2013-15)
A former Broncos assistant coach for six years, including Denver's Super Bowl 50 season, Callahan has served as the Bengals' offensive coordinator for three years. In 2021, the Bengals' offense improved to eighth in scoring after ranking 29th in 2020. Like Bieniemy, Callahan may not be the primary play-caller behind an offensive-minded head coach, but he still has an important role in that process, especially in communication, as Taylor has spoken about previously.
Reported by: Ryan O'Halloran, The Denver Post
Update: The Broncos completed an interview with Callahan on Thursday, Jan. 20.
Jonathan Gannon
Current position: Defensive coordinator, Philadelphia Eagles (2021-present)
Notable previous positions: Defensive backs coach, Indianapolis Colts (2018-20); Assistant defensive backs coach, Minnesota Vikings (2014-17)
In his first season as a coordinator, Gannon joined the Eagles after seven seasons of working with defensive backs in Minnesota and Indianapolis. Philadelphia has jumped into the league's top 10 in yards allowed per play as the Eagles punched their ticket to the postseason.

Update: Gannon completed an interview with the Broncos on Jan. 19, the team announced.
Luke Getsy
Current position: Quarterbacks coach/Passing game coordinator, Green Bay Packers (2020-present)
Notable previous positions: Quarterbacks coach, Green Bay Packers (2019); Offensive coordinator/wide receivers coach, Mississippi State Bulldogs (2018); Wide receivers coach, Green Bay Packers (2016-17)
Getsy is one of two Packers coaches from their offensive staff to reportedly be requested for an interview for the Broncos' offensive coordinator, in addition to offensive coordinator Nathaniel Hackett. A former quarterback at the University of Pittsburgh and University of Akron, Getsy has had a hand in the Packers' productive passing attack, which ranked No. 1 in the league in 2020.
Reported by: Tom Pelissero, NFL Network
Update: Getsy completed an interview with the Broncos on Friday, Jan. 14, the team announced.
Aaron Glenn
Current position: Defensive coordinator, Detroit Lions (2021-present)
Notable previous positions: Defensive backs coach, New Orleans Saints (2016-20); assistant defensive backs coach, Cleveland Browns (2014-15)
A former three-time Pro Bowl cornerback who played 15 years in the NFL with the Jets, Texans, Cowboys, Jaguars and Saints, Glenn has now been in the coaching ranks for eight seasons. He also has some background in scouting, as he spent two seasons with the Jets as a personnel scout. In his lone season as the defensive coordinator for the Lions, Detroit's stats may not look great, but they've made improvements in several areas from 2020, when they ranked last in scoring and total defense.
Reported by: Tom Pelissero, NFL Network
Update: Glenn completed an interview with the Broncos on Thursday, the team announced.
Nathaniel Hackett
Current position: Offensive coordinator, Green Bay Packers (2019-present)
Notable previous positions: Offensive coordinator, Jacksonville Jaguars (2016-18); Quarterbacks coach, Jacksonville Jaguars (2015-16); Offensive coordinator, Buffalo Bills (2013-14); Offensive coordinator/Quarterbacks/tight ends coach, Syracuse Orange (2011-12)
Known for his energetic leadership, Hackett has led Green Bay's offense, which ranked No. 1 in scoring and No. 5 in yards in 2020 and 10th in both in 2021. He also helped lead Jacksonville to an AFC Championship appearance in 2017 with a top-10 offense with quarterback Blake Bortles.
Reported by: Adam Schefter, ESPN
Update: Hackett completed an interview with the Broncos on Saturday, Jan. 15, the team announced.
Update: Hackett visited UCHealth Training Center on Monday, Jan. 24 for a second interview.
Jerod Mayo
Current position: Inside linebackers coach, New England Patriots (2019-present)
One of just two reported candidates without NFL coordinator experience, Mayo is a former Super Bowl champion, Pro Bowler and All-Pro linebacker who transitioned to a coaching career not long after his playing career ended after the 2015 season. Mayo's role, though, is bigger than may be understood by just his job title, as NBC Sports Boston's Tom Curran writes, and his leadership and football knowledge is unquestioned.
Reported by: Adam Schefter, ESPN
Update: Mayo has completed his interview for the position, the Broncos announced on Jan. 19.
Kellen Moore
Current position: Offensive coordinator, Dallas Cowboys (2019-present)
Notable previous positions: Quarterbacks coach, Dallas Cowboys (2018)
A former NFL quarterback, Moore moved quickly into coaching after his playing career and has been one of the most-talked about offensive coordinators in recent years. In his three seasons as Dallas' offensive coordinator, the Cowboys have ranked in the league's top 10 in passing yards each year, and the offense as a whole has been the most productive in the league in two of those seasons.
Reported by: Mike Klis, 9NEWS
Update: Moore interviewed with the team on Tuesday, Jan. 18, the Broncos announced.
Kevin O'Connell
Current position: Offensive coordinator, Los Angeles Rams (2020-present)
Notable previous positions: Offensive coordinator, Washington Football Team (2019); Passing game coordinator, Washington Football Team (2018); Quarterbacks coach, Washington Football Team (2017-18); Quarterbacks coach, Cleveland Browns (2015)
Another former quarterback, O'Connell is in his second season as the Rams' offensive coordinator; during that span, Los Angeles has ranked 11th and ninth in total offense. While Rams head coach Sean McVay normally holds play-calling responsibilities, O'Connell called plays during the preseason.
Reported by: Tom Pelissero, NFL Network
Update: The Broncos completed an interview with O'Connell on Thursday, Jan. 20.
Dan Quinn
Current position: Defensive coordinator, Dallas Cowboys (2021-present)
Notable previous positions: Head coach, Atlanta Falcons (2015-20); Defensive coordinator, Seattle Seahawks (2013-14); Defensive coordinator & defensive line coach, Florida Gators (2011-12); Assistant head coach & defensive line coach, Seattle Seahawks (2009-10); Defensive line coach, New York Jets (2007-08); Defensive line coach, Miami Dolphins (2005-06); Defensive line coach, San Francisco 49ers (2003-04)
The only former head coach on this reported group of candidates, Quinn led the Falcons to Super Bowl LI for just its second Super Bowl appearance in nearly 60 years. As a defensive coordinator, Quinn has been among the league's best; in his two seasons in that role with the Seahawks from 2013-14, Seattle ranked No. 1 in scoring and total defense in back-to-back seasons. In his first year back as a defensive coordinator, Quinn has helped the Cowboys improve to seventh in scoring defense (from 28th in 2020), 16th in rushing defense (from 31st) and first in takeaways (from seventh).
Reported by: Ian Rapoport, NFL Network
Update: The Broncos announced they completed an interview with Quinn on Tuesday, Jan. 18.
