ENGLEWOOD, Colo. — After a record-setting rookie season in Denver, quarterback Bo Nix is among the finalists for one of the league's top honors.

Nix is among five finalists for 2024 Associated Press Offensive Rookie of the Year, the NFL announced Thursday.

The winner will be announced during NFL Honors on Thursday, Feb. 6.

The 12th-overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft, Nix led all rookies in completions, passing yards, touchdown passes and total touchdowns during the regular season. He also ranked second among rookies in passer rating.

"I'm real encouraged, and I'm glad that he's with us and that it worked out the way it did," Head Coach Sean Payton said following the season. "… I think it's all in front of him. And I said this before, I think we found that player that can lead us and be what we need, relative to having the success we're used to having. I think we found it."

Nix's 29 touchdown passes were the second-most by a rookie in NFL history, trailing only Justin Herbert's 31 scoring passes in 2020.

Just the fourth rookie quarterback in league history to earn Player of the Week honors multiple times, Nix was named AFC Offensive Player of the Week following a Week 11 win over the Falcons and a playoff-clinching Week 18 victory over the Chiefs.

Nix became the only rookie quarterback in league history to post multiple outings with at least 300 passing yards, four passing scores and a passer rating of at least 140. He was named Rookie of the Week following three consecutive games from Weeks 10-12 — the first player in franchise history to achieve the feat — and he posted the most games (7) by a rookie in NFL history with multiple touchdown passes and no interceptions.

After earning the starting job in training camp, Nix set franchise rookie marks in categories including wins, touchdown passes, passing yards, completions and completion percentage. He led the Broncos to their first 10-win season and playoff appearance since 2015, and he tossed more touchdowns in a season than any Bronco in franchise history not named Peyton Manning.

On the year, Nix completed 66.3 percent of his passes for 3,775 yards, 29 touchdowns, 12 interceptions and a 93.3 passer rating.

Nix would be the third player in franchise history to earn AP Offensive Rookie of the Year honors and the first since Clinton Portis in 2002.

The Raiders' Brock Bowers, Commanders' Jayden Daniels, Giants' Malik Nabers and Jaguars' Brian Thomas Jr. are also nominated for the award.

In addition to Nix's nomination, Payton is nominated for AP Coach of the Year and cornerback Pat Surtain II is nominated for AP Defensive Player of the Year.
