The Lead

As Brandon Jones begins his first season with the Broncos, he looks forward to playing his position a little bit differently.

The fifth-year safety is eager to take advantage of a scheme that will allow him to have more freedom in the middle of the field and showcase his versatility as a player.

"Throughout my career, I've always been labeled as only being able to do certain things," Jones said Tuesday. "[With] this opportunity, I will be able to show how versatile I can be, how I can do a lot of other things and branch out from being labeled as one thing and [be] a guy that can do everything."

Jones steps into a defense that is building off of last year's steady improvement, and he looks forward to upholding the team's standard on defense by learning quickly and bringing energy to his position.

"I think it was kudos to them last year, just the way they were able to overcome adversity early on in the season and ended up being one of the top-ranked defenses," he said. "Now being part of that, it's something that I think we're easily able to grow on now this year. [We're] definitely heading in the right direction."

Jones will bring this excitement to learn and grow into training camp as he is presented with new opportunities that will allow him to develop as a player.

"It's just a broad variety of situations that I will get to be in that I usually haven't been in during my career," he said. "I'm excited because I know what I'm capable of doing, and I'm excited to get that opportunity."
