The Lead
After facing a 13-9 deficit at halftime, the Broncos found a rhythm on both sides of the ball to help get the job done in Week 12.
Denver earned its first victory at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas and completed the team's first season sweep of the Raiders since 2014. The performance was fueled by two second-half touchdowns and a strong defensive performance, and Brian Baldinger of NFL Network recently broke down some of the crucial plays from the comeback victory.
Baldinger praised the development of rookie quarterback Bo Nix, noting that "he keeps getting better and better."
He broke down Nix's two touchdown passes to wide receiver Courtland Sutton, as well as wide receiver Marvin Mims Jr.'s 37-yard catch-and-run. Baldinger also highlighted a connection with wide receiver Devaughn Vele, commending Nix's ability to escape the pocket and make a 23-yard throw that he described as "right on the money."
A 26-yard completion to wide receiver Troy Franklin also stood out as a key play that illustrated Nix's playmaking ability.
"This is just a great shot right down the seam," Baldinger said. "He saw it, and then he delivered it. Perfect. One good throw after another."
Defensively, Baldinger highlighted the performance of cornerback Pat Surtain II, who Baldinger said is "all about the action."
Baldinger broke down several key plays during which Surtain shut down tight end Brock Bowers, who had just 38 receiving yards, the second-lowest total of his young career. Baldinger also praised Surtain's ability to make plays all over the field.
"It wasn't just Bowers; it was everybody," Baldinger said.
Baldinger highlighted Surtain's skill set when it comes to making critical reads and adjustments, and he also applauded his red-zone coverage.
"Pat Surtain, he's just one of those guys," Baldinger said. "He's all about the action. The more he gets, the more fun he has."
