The Lead
With only one week of NFL preseason games remaining, conversations are heating up about players who can make an impact in 2024.
NFL.com recently named one potential first-time Pro Bowler from each team, and left tackle Garett Bolles got the nod for the Broncos.
Bolles, who was a first-round pick in the 2017 NFL Draft, has started all 99 games he has played with Denver. While he has always been a Bronco, Bolles will be entering 2024 with more continuity than he has often seen in his career. This year, Bolles will play under the same head coach and offensive line coach for a second consecutive season for just the second time in his career.
The last time Bolles played a season with the same leadership in those two coaching positions, he put together one of the best seasons of his career and was named a second-team All-Pro. He will look to replicate that success this season.
"Bolles is an excellent blind-side pass protector, allowing fewer than five sacks in six of seven seasons, per PFF," NFL.com's Kevin Patra wrote. "The veteran has curtailed some of the penalties that plagued him early in his career and has become a rock along the Broncos' line."
Although he is entering his eighth year in the league, Bolles has said throughout training camp that he feels the strongest and fastest he has ever been in his career. After playing every offensive snap during the 2023 season, Bolles continues to look for ways to improve his game.
"I feel great," Bolles said in July. "My body feels great, my mind feels great. I'm humbled to get better every year. I feel like that's what I've been doing. … I'm the strongest and fastest I've ever been."
His increasing confidence, and consistency, might just take his game to the next level this season.
