The Lead
After another dominant performance by the Broncos on Thursday, Super Bowl 50 champion Chris Harris Jr. has taken notice of Denver's defensive unit.
Harris joined Kay Adams on the "Up & Adams Show" on Friday and discussed the 33-10 win as well as some key contributors who could continue to make an impact this season.
"They forced turnovers yesterday, [they were] able to get a lot of pressure on the rookie quarterback, and really go down into a hostile environment and dominate them," Harris said. "So, I'm really proud of the way they came out there and played yesterday."
Harris, who was coached by Defensive Coordinator Vance Joseph from 2017-18, said the "aggressive" style of defense that the Broncos are playing reminds him of his time spent on the team.
"Everybody gets a chance to blitz," Harris said. "When you get a chance to get your name called, you want to make a play, and that's what everybody's doing."
Harris praised the efforts of cornerback Ja'Quan McMillian, who recorded the strip-sack that led to a fumble recovery and touchdown for inside linebacker Cody Barton on Thursday. Harris said McMillian is a player that "should get a lot more notice" around the league, as he can continue to be a key contributor for the Broncos moving forward.
"He just makes plays," Harris said. "The way I used to tackle and be aggressive and try to take away the middle, I feel like he's one of those type [of] guys."
Harris said he has been impressed with the Broncos' secondary as a collective, also commending the performance and consistent improvement of cornerback Riley Moss, who Harris said is "improving every week."
"I like his game," Harris said. "I think he's getting better, and that's what I like to see. You want to see guys improve each week."
The three-time All-Pro cornerback said that with this consistent improvement, he believes Moss is set to "have a hell of a career."
Defensive end Zach Allen, who has consistently pressured quarterbacks this season, also earned the recognition from Harris, who noted he is "making an impact" in each and every game.
"He's really the leader right now," Harris said. "He's the guy that everybody should take notice of up front when they watch the Broncos' front seven."
As the Broncos look to continue to build this season, Harris said continuing to play this complementary football could be key in allowing the team to make a postseason appearance.
"I think they're one of the top teams in the league in getting pressure on quarterbacks," Harris said. "So, if they can continue to do that, continue to run the football like they did yesterday to help [quarterback] Bo Nix, it's going to be tough for them to be out."
