MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. — In the immediate aftermath of a 35-9 loss to the Dolphins, Trevor Siemian's frustration seemed to reflect the demeanor of the entire team.

Not much went right Sunday at Hard Rock Stadium as the Broncos dropped to 3-9 — and Siemian was cognizant of that after the game.

For most of the game, he said, the team operated without a real sense of rhythm and often found itself in long third downs.

Siemian's selection of adjectives may be most telling: "tough," "frustrating," "disappointing.

He completed just 19-of-41 passes for 200 yards and three interceptions, one of which was returned for a touchdown. Siemian was also sacked three times.

It also proved difficult to convert third downs. In 13 attempts, the Broncos managed to pick up just one first down, and that lone successful try didn't come until the fourth quarter.

"They're a good defense," Siemian said. "They get a lot of pressure with four guys, and they play their defense really well — a good scheme. Credit to those guys."

Siemian also saw the skill in the Dolphins' secondary. Early in the second quarter, Siemian was looking for Demaryius Thomas on a speed out. He left it inside, though, and Xavien Howard stepped in front to give the Dolphins a 16-3 lead.

The game wasn't lost there — the Broncos would cut the lead to 10 later in the game — but it was another situation where Siemian saw himself miss a throw he's routinely made over the course of two seasons.

"[It's] disappointing," Siemian said. "There were a handful of throws that I feel good about making pretty consistently that I didn't make. [I've got to] check it out."

As he does so, he knows he'll need to find a way to translate the productive days of practice into productive Sunday afternoons.

"I wouldn't say we feel good during the week, because we're losing, but I feel like we always have a good plan," Siemian said. "Guys are in the right spot mentally, and for whatever reason, we're just not getting it done when it comes down to it."

That perhaps surprises Siemian most, especially after the season began with hopes for an AFC West crown.

"I think we've just played badly," Siemian said. "It's hard to believe we started 3-1. [We] felt pretty good [about] where we were at, and it's gotten away from us. There's been weeks where we've been right there, [and] we just haven't gotten it done, haven't made enough plays. [We've] got to get back to work."
