Cover 4: Broncos fall 21-14 to Raiders in Oakland

OAKLAND, Calif. —The Broncos lost 21-14 to the Raiders in Oakland as a late rally fell short and they dropped their seventh consecutive contest.

Defining statistic

93; 75. The length, in yards, of the Broncos' two fourth-quarter touchdown drives. The first came with 10:21 to play in the game, as Trevor Siemian — who replaced an injured Paxton Lynch — guided the team on a 10-play drive that began at Denver's 7-yard line. After the Raiders missed a field goal, Siemian and the Broncos took over again and drove 75 yards in three minutes, seven seconds to cut the lead to seven. These two late drives gave Denver a chance and also narrowed the gaps in total yards, passing yards and first downs, which told the story of the game in the first half.

Game-changing moment

The two fourth-quarter touchdown drives gave the Broncos a chance, but a 54-yard pass from Derek Carr to Cordarrelle Patterson on third-and-8 with two minutes, 24 seconds to play iced the game for the Raiders. Carr heaved a pass to Patterson, who snuck by Brendan Langley to make the grab, and Patterson then raced down to the Denver 31-yard line. Oakland was then free to kneel out the game.

Memorable highlight

Trevor Siemian's 25-yard touchdown pass to Cody Latimer on fourth down earns an honorable mention, but it's hard to pick a play other than Shaquil Barrett's strip sack of Carr. Barrett blew by the offensive tackle, ripped the ball away from Carr and recovered it himself. Were it not for a Raiders offensive lineman who incidentally touched Barrett down, the Broncos' outside linebacker may have returned it for a touchdown, too.

Top performers

Shaquil Barrett earns honors here, too, as he recorded his fourth sack of the season and his first since the Broncos' game against the Kansas City Chiefs on Oct. 30. The fourth-year player also picked up his second strip-sack of the season on the same play.
