ENGLEWOOD, Colo. — In Bryce Callahan's first season on the field for the Broncos, he has proved he could make quite the impact with his play — and also with his character.
The NFL announced the 32 nominees for the 2020 Art Rooney Sportsmanship Award on Thursday, and Callahan is the Broncos' representative.
The award, which was created in 2014, recognizes players who show tremendous sportsmanship on the field. The collection of 32 nominees will be whittled down to eight finalists by a panel of former players from the NFL Legends Community, which this year includes Ring of Famer Karl Mecklenburg, as well as Warrick Dunn, Curtis Martin and Leonard Wheeler.
Then, current players will vote for the ultimate winner on Dec. 18 as part of the Pro Bowl voting process. According to the NFL, "each team's players will submit a consensus vote for their choice," though teams cannot vote for their own player.
The winner, who will receive a $25,000 donation to the charity of his choice, will be revealed during the NFL Honors program before Super Bowl LV.
