ENGLEWOOD, Colo. — The Broncos have officially retained one of their most talented homegrown players.
The Broncos officially signed guard Quinn Meinerz to a four-year extension on Monday that runs through the 2028 season, the team announced.
A third-round pick in 2021, Meinerz joined the Broncos as the 98th-overall pick out of Division III Wisconsin-Whitewater and made an immediate impact in Denver. He appeared in 15 games and started nine contests as a rookie before emerging as one of the league's top guards in 2022.
Meinerz started all 13 games in which he appeared in 2022 and then started all 17 of the Broncos' contests in 2023. He played 96.7 percent of Denver's offensive snaps in 2023.
Since 2021, Meinerz has played 2,412 offensive snaps, which represents the third most on the team during that span.
A bruising player, Meinerz has gained a reputation as a powerful run blocker who will finish plays down the field and help the ball carrier fight for extra yards. In the passing game, Meinerz allowed the fourth fewest pressures of any guard with at least 625 blocking snaps in 2023, according to Pro Football Focus.
Meinerz, who became eligible for an extension following the 2023 season, is the first player the Broncos have extended from their 2021 draft class.
