ENGLEWOOD, Colo. — The Broncos added depth to their defensive line Wednesday when they signed veteran defensive lineman Clinton McDonald to a two-year deal.
The ninth-year veteran appeared in 14 games and totaled five sacks for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in 2017.
The 6-foot-2, 297-pounder spent the previous four seasons with the Bucs, for whom he started 34 games.
McDonald has also made an impact off the field. He was named the Buccaneers' Walter Payton Man of the Year Award nominee in 2017 for his work in the community. And in the locker room, he repeatedly impressed his teammates and coaches.
"Clinton McDonald, I think, is a perfect teammate," Buccaneers defensive coordinator Mike Smith said. "We talk about his ability on the football player on the defensive line. That speaks for itself. He's there to support the other guys on the team, whether it's in the D-line room, whether it's in the linebacker room or even on the offensive side of the football."
Before he joined the Buccaneers, McDonald spent three seasons in Seattle. He was drafted out of Memphis by the Cincinnati Bengals in the seventh round of the 2009 NFL Draft.
