Broncos, Briefly: Wednesday, Dec. 11, 2019

Denver's quarterback scorched the Texans secondary in Houston in a surprising Week 13 victory.

For the second-straight week, Broncos rookie quarterback Drew Lock was impressive in victory.

"I was just trying to go in there and knock the rust off," he said. "I need to get used to it a little bit."

James admitted a barrier was crossed by returning after being injured against Oakland on Sept. 9 (10 snaps) and Indianapolis on Oct. 27 (22 snaps).

For Drew Lock to play as well as he had even though it's obvious he doesn't have command of the playbook is testament to how well he's otherwise been coached up by offensive coordinator Rich Scangarello and quarterbacks coach T.C. McCartney.

The first time quarterback Drew Lock set foot in the Denver Broncos' complex in April as a second-round draft pick out of Missouri, he knew his family would have to make some adjustments.

A graduate of Lee's Summit (Missouri) High School, which sits 15 miles from the Kansas City Chiefs' Arrowhead Stadium, Lock said his parents and others were "going to have to wear the orange and blue of the Broncos now and not the red and yellow."
