The Broncos will travel to Buffalo to take on the Bills at Highmark Stadium on Jan. 12, 2025 at 11 a.m. MT.
MATCHUP
The No. 7 seed Broncos will travel to Buffalo to take on the No. 2 seed Bills in a Wild Card Weekend matchup. Denver will look to earn its first postseason win since Super Bowl 50.
The matchup will mark the first postseason game in NFL history featuring a defense that has recorded 60-plus sacks and an offense that has allowed fewer than 15 sacks in a season. Denver's defense will look to build off its dominant performance this season as the unit faces an explosive Bills offense that has scored 30-plus points in 12 games this season. The Broncos — who finished the season with a league-high 63 sacks and 134 quarterback hits — will look to slow down quarterback Josh Allen, whose 41 total touchdowns ranked fourth in the NFL this season. Outside linebacker Nik Bonitto — who finished the regular season with 13.5 sacks — and defensive lineman Zach Allen — who finished the regular season with a league-best 40 quarterback hits — could look to play a key role in this effort. Cornerback Pat Surtain II — who finished the season ranked first in yards allowed per coverage snap as the nearest defender in coverage — should aim for another dominant performance on Sunday.
Offensively, the Broncos will look to start fast on Sunday as they face a Bills' defense that has allowed an average of 33 points per game to playoff teams in 2024. Quarterback Bo Nix — who was named AFC Offensive Player of the Week for his Week 18 performance vs. the Chiefs — should aim for another strong performance as he makes his first postseason start. Nix could look to distribute the ball to playmakers such as wide receiver Courtland Sutton — who led the Broncos with 81 receptions, 1,081 receiving yards and eight receiving touchdowns this season — and wide receiver Marvin Mims Jr., who recorded two receiving touchdowns in each of Denver's final two games this season.
INJURY UPDATE
Denver ruled out tackle Frank Crum (illness) and listed running back Tyler Badie (back) as questionable. Badie would need to be activated to the 53-man roster to play against Buffalo. Tight end Nate Adkins (abdomen), guard Ben Powers (not injury related – rest) and cornerback Damarri Mathis (back) were not assigned game statuses, indicating they will be available to play in Sunday's matchup.
For the Bills, kick returner Brandon Codrington (hamstring) was listed as questionable.
