CB Pat Surtain II earns third consecutive Demaryius Thomas Team MVP Award from local media

24-DT-Wide

ENGLEWOOD, Colo. — For the third consecutive year, cornerback Pat Surtain II has been named the Demaryius Thomas Team MVP Award recipient, as selected by the Pro Football Writers of America Denver chapter.

Surtain has won the award in three of the first four years of its existence. The honor was created in 2021 to honor the life and legacy of late former Broncos wide receiver Demaryius Thomas, and the award is presented to the player who exhibits Thomas' impact on and off the field.

"Pat Surtain, whose day-to-day demeanor is often a reminder of Demaryius', has won in three of the four years the award has been given and was honored as one of the league's best, regardless of position," said ESPN Senior Writer and former national president of the PFWA Jeff Legwold.

Surtain was also named a Pro Bowler for the third time in his career on Thursday, and he has recorded four interceptions, a 100-yard pick six, a forced fumble, a fumble recovery and 11 passes defensed in 15 games this season. The Alabama product leads all NFL cornerbacks who have faced at least 25 targets in yards allowed per snap and passer rating allowed, according to Next Gen Stats.

Outside linebacker Nik Bonitto also received strong consideration for the award.
