ENGLEWOOD, Colo. — The Broncos have signed wide receiver Aaron Burbridge to a future contract and waived/injured wide receiver Andre Holmes, the team announced Thursday.
Burbridge, a former sixth-round pick, appeared in 16 games and started three for the San Francisco 49ers as a rookie in 2016. He recorded seven catches for 88 yards.
Burbridge also played gunner for the 49ers in 2016, but he suffered a hamstring injury in 2017 and was placed on injured reserve ahead of his second season.
He again spent time on IR early in the 2018 season before the 49ers waived him in September. Burbridge then spent limited time in October on the 49ers' practice squad before again being waived.
As a senior at Michigan State, Burbridge led the Big Ten with 1,258 yards and seven touchdowns and recorded first-team All-Big Ten honors.
Holmes signed with the Broncos in 2018 after Emmanuel Sanders suffered a season-ending injury. He appeared in three games and recorded one catch before suffering a high-ankle sprain against the Raiders in Week 16. The Broncos then placed Holmes on injured reserve.
