ENGLEWOOD, Colo. — The Broncos' rookie quarterback has earned a clean sweep of Week 11 awards following a win over Atlanta.
Bo Nix has won the NFL's Rookie of the Week award for his performance in Denver's 38-6 victory over the Falcons.
This marks the second consecutive week that Nix has won the award, as he earned the honor following an impressive Week 10 performance against the Chiefs. Nix is the first Bronco to win the weekly award twice in one season since quarterback Tim Tebow in 2010, and he is the first Bronco to win the award in back-to-back weeks since running back Knowshon Moreno in 2009.
"[I'm] proud of where he's at," Head Coach Sean Payton said Wednesday. "He works tirelessly, and [you] look [at] the unit, the confidence in his teammates. All that stuff is what you hope to see. The best part is ... he's very grounded. He's very team driven, relative to what's important, and so we just want to keep building on that. It's good with where we're at in the juncture of the season."
Nix earned the honor after posting his best statistical performance of the season against the Falcons, as he threw for 307 yards and four touchdowns. With the outing, he became the first rookie in NFL history to throw for at least 300 yards and four touchdowns while completing at least 80 percent of his passes. Nix also recorded a 145.0 passer rating, which is the second-highest single-game mark in franchise history.
"The guy ... shows up to work hungry for more," wide receiver Courtland Sutton said. "[He's] a student of the game and a guy that you can tell loves the game. He loves the game of ball. There is nothing boring abaout listening to him talk about ball, because he just has so many ideas, and [he] has so much joy that comes from him when he's talking about ball and what he sees each week from the defenses. To see him have the success that he is having, it just brings me joy to be able to be a part of it, be able to witness it and be part of his journey."
The award marks Nix's third accolade of the week, as he was named the AFC Offensive Player of the Week and the FedEx Air & Ground Player of the Week on Wednesday.
