The Denver Broncos have signed Von Miller to a long-term contract to keep the four-time Pro Bowl outside linebacker and Super Bowl 50 MVP in orange and blue through the 2021 season.

Miller's new contract was set up by a fantastic playoff run in which he racked up five sacks in three games, along with two forced fumbles, an interception and two deflected passes. The Super Bowl was his crowning moment, as Miller tore through the Carolina Panthers' protection for 2.5 sacks and two forced fumbles that each led to Broncos touchdowns that either gave the Broncos the lead or ensured they would keep it in the championship game.

With 11 sacks in the 2015 regular season and 14 in 2014, Miller's returned to an early career form that was only momentarily derailed in 2013 when he tore his ACL on Dec. 22 against the Texans before the Broncos went on a postseason run to Super Bowl XLVIII.

Miller, the No. 2 overall pick in the 2011 NFL Draft by the Broncos, recorded 11.5 sacks in his first season, earning selections as the NFL Defensive Rookie of the Year and as a Pro Bowl starter, just the second player in team history to make the Pro Bowl as a rookie. In 2012, Miller set the Broncos' franchise record for sacks in a single season with 18.5, and he was a first-team All-Pro selection.

The sixth-year edge rusher has earned numerous accolades since coming into the league, including four Pro Bowl selections and four All-Pro nods (two first-team, two second-team) in addition to the individual awards mentioned before.

The team had placed their exclusive-rights franchise tag upon Miller on March 1 to retain exclusive negotiating rights. Elway continued his trend of signing franchise-tag players to long-term deals, as Miller joins WR Demaryius Thomas (2015), T Ryan Clady (2013) and K Matt Prater (2012).
