ENGLEWOOD, Colo. — **After spending the entirety of training camp on the non-football injury list with a back injury, DeMarcus Ware is ready to return to the practice field, Head Coach Gary Kubiak said Monday.
"I think he's going off NFI today, if I'm right," Kubiak said. "We're going to have a walkthrough; he'll be a part of that. He'll be practicing tomorrow."
With his back feeling better, Ware's now focused on fine-tuning his preparation for the beginning of the regular season.
"It feels really good now," Ware said Monday. "It's getting back into shape and sharpening everything, because you know when you first get back into things, it's seeing the ball, seeing the formations and going out there and playing, and that's what I'm doing right now."
While Ware gets back to on-field work at practice, cornerback Aqib Talib is also expected to make progress in his offseason recovery from a gunshot wound. Kubiak said he expects Talib to play "full go" against the Rams Saturday.
Kubiak also gave recovery updates on the following players:
• Guard Ty Sambrailo has missed the last three weeks with a hyperextended right elbow suffered July 31, but Kubiak said the second-year player is "getting close" to a return.
"Ty's doing really well," Kubiak said. "We've been shooting for opening weekend. It's all been all about [him] being able to hit with this thing and get his elbow in a lockdown situation where he can't go back and re-hurt it."
• Reserve inside linebacker Corey Nelson left the Broncos' game against the 49ers in the second quarter with what was "basically a sprained wrist," Kubiak said. "Expectations are for him to be back on the field."
• Tight end Jeff Heuerman, who missed Saturday's game against San Francisco with a hamstring injury is doing "fine," Kubiak said. Heuerman is considered day-to-day, but Kubiak did not know if he would be available for Saturday's game.
• Cornerback Taurean Nixon has missed substantial time during training camp with an undisclosed injury, but Kubiak said he should be back on the field on Tuesday. Safety Ryan Murphy should also return to practice Tuesday.
