Broncos promote safety Dymonte Thomas to active roster

**

INDIANAPOLIS —** The Broncos promoted rookie safety Dymonte Thomas to the active roster Thursday, filling the spot opened when the team placed Justin Simmons on injured reserve Wednesday.

Thomas joined the team as a college free agent after the 2017 NFL Draft and had been a practice-squad member since the beginning of the season. He tallied eight tackles, one forced fumble and a 58-yard pick-six in four preseason games.

Simmons was placed on injured reserve after suffering a high-ankle sprain in the first quarter of the Broncos' Week 14 game against the Jets.
