HIGHLANDS RANCH, Colo. -- **Broncos guard Ben Garland hosted the inaugural "Bags to the Future" fundraiser Wednesday evening at LoDo's Bar and Grill in Highlands Ranch with Broncos players, cheerleaders and even alumni in attendance.
The bag toss tournament was held to benefit SoDE Solutions, a non-profit organization Garland and friends from the Air Force Academy started about five years ago.
The group currently works in 15 countries with a mission of "creating sustainability and changing economic situations in order to be part of the solution in ending sex-trafficking and furthering missions."
"The beauty of it is this money isn't just given out to charity," Garland said. "We're actually giving it to people and they're starting businesses with it. It makes it a solution."
The event featured several pieces of signed memorabilia up for auction and saw appearances from past and present Broncos, including Ring of Famer Billy Thompson and Pro Bowler Von Miller.
"Ben's kind of like a role model for me," Malik Jackson said. "I want to do as much as I can for the community."
"When you have things like this with guys that have their foundations, you really want to show up and say I'm a part of this."
"I'm overwhelmed," Garland said. "So many guys showed up to support me. It really means a lot to me that the guys came out for me."
He expects plenty of impact to come from what was the group's first major fundraiser in Colorado.
"We're able to do so much with so little money," he said. "We've got a great community. People come out and they love to support charity events. They love to help those in need."
