The following story was written by Shaun, a recent Children's Hospital Colorado Junior Reporter.
Hi, my name is Shaun, and I'm a Children's Hospital Ambassador. Have you ever wondered what a Denver Broncos player does when they're not on the field? Well, I had the chance to find out when I spoke with a Broncos player and asked him about his free time.
On September 12th, I visited the Broncos training facility, and it was an incredible experience. The first thing I noticed was a beautiful lounge, and every trophy the Broncos have won was proudly displayed. I learned that teams earn trophies for being AFC/NFC champions. Then, I saw photos of every Broncos player. After that, we visited the linebackers' room, which looked like a mini movie theater, followed by the quarterbacks' room, which resembled a regular meeting room.
After the tour, I got to interview No. 99, defensive lineman Zach Allen. I asked him a few questions, and here's what he had to say.
Me: Who was your favorite player when you were a kid?
Zach: Justin Tuck.
Me: What age did you start playing football?
Zach: 4th grade.
Me: Why did you choose your position?
Zach: It was chosen for me.
Me: What's the hardest part of playing in the NFL?
Zach: The travel.
Me: How does your family support your football career?
Zach: They're awesome, and they come to all my games.
Me: How do you get along with your fellow Broncos?
Zach: Everybody gets along.
Me: What food comforts you after a win and a loss?
Zach: Pasta and meatballs, both times.
Me: What do you look forward to while living in Colorado?
Zach: I want to visit Colorado Springs.
Me: Do you think you will win a Super Bowl with the Denver Broncos?
Zach: Yes.
Me: How do you unwind when you're not playing football?
Zach: I play with my mini Bernese poodle.
Me: When it's all said and done, how do you want to be remembered?
Zach: As a great teammate.
Me: Xbox or PlayStation?
Zach: PlayStation.
Me: Do you play Madden in the offseason?
Zach: No, I don't use myself.
From this experience, I can confidently call myself the Denver Broncos' number one fan. I also learned a valuable lesson: never give up, because if you do, you'll never be successful. Meeting this player made me realize how much you can grow from your experiences, and now, when I watch the Broncos on TV, I'll see the person I met.
Overall, I loved being a Broncos reporter and would be thrilled to visit the Broncos training facility again!
