Woodyard Active as Spectator

ENGLEWOOD, Colo. --Linebacker Wesley Woodyard watched the Broncos' Week 14 win like most of Broncos Country -- on television.

Sidelined by an ankle injury, Woodyard didn't travel with the team to Oakland and was forced to catch the game on NFL Network.

"I was sitting on the couch cheering," Woodyard said. "It was actually a different experience. I got to be a fan for a change, sit back, have my feet propped up and just enjoy the game and enjoy watching my teammates."

He stayed involved throughout the contest.

When the defense sniffed out a screen pass on Oakland's opening drive, Woodyard chimed in on Twitter.

"I see you big nasty playing da screen game!!!!"

When cornerback Champ Bailey grabbed his 34th interception as a Bronco, tying Tyrone Braxton for fourth-most in franchise history, Woodyard was there with a tweet.

"And that's why you don't try CHAMP!!!"

He even showed his Broncos support on his shirt, and congratulated his team on a "good win"after the 26-13 victory.

But Woodyard wasn't only active on Twitter -- he made sure to blow up rookie linebacker Danny Trevathan's phone, as well, as the fellow Kentucky Wildcat stepped up in Woodyard's absence.

"He did some really nice things out there," Woodyard said "He came up and was beasting. I texted him during the game. I sent about six text messages to him during the game – obviously he couldn't check them but after the game he let me know that he received them. It was good just seeing him go out there, fly around and make plays. That's what he did in college."

This week, Woodyard hopes to be back on the field when the team heads to Baltimore to take on the Ravens. In fact, he expects it.

"I'm playing," he said definitively with a laugh.

The team captain said his ankle "feels good," and though Head Coach John Fox said the team didn't have to issue an injury report on Monday per NFL policy, Woodyard was on the field with his teammates at the start of Monday's session, working with Strength and Conditioning Coach Luke Richesson.

Woodyard said that if last week's game had been on a Sunday as opposed to Thursday Night Football, it might have been a different story.

"I definitely would have given it a go on Sunday, but quick turnaround, it was just the smart thing to do to stay off of it and get some rest," he said.

He hopes that rest pays off for Week 15.
