ENGLEWOOD, Colo. --After being charged with misdemeanor assault and disturbing the peace, safety T.J. Ward said a "miscommunication" led to the issuing of an arrest warrant that was dismissed a day after it was issued.
"I didn't think anything was wrong, actually, until I heard about the warrant, so once I found out, I did everything to cooperate, settled it quickly, and it's behind me," he said.
Nevertheless, the reports were "a little embarrassing" to Ward, who was one of the Broncos' prized free-agent pickups in March.
"But I think that it was kind of blown out of proportion, and now it's been taken care of," said Ward, who is due to appear in court June 23.
"It's only basically a ticket or a summons. It wasn't supposed to be a warrant, initially, but there was some miscommunication between the police department and myself, so that's what issued that.
"But it's all being resolved, and I'm looking forward to just moving forward and continuing with the OTAs."
Ward said he "definitely" learned a lesson from the incident.
"You just have to be more, I guess, aware of what you do in certain situations and times of the day," he said. "I've learned from that, and I'm looking forward to moving on."
