ENGLEWOOD, Colo. -- ** It's always fun to see a familiar face in an unexpected place.
That was certainly the case for new Broncos cornerback Aqib Talib and defensive end DeMarcus Ware as the two made their way to Denver.
Tuesday evening, Talib agreed to terms to become a Bronco. Around the same time, news emerged that Ware would pay the Broncos a free-agent visit.
Talib didn't think anything else of it as he boarded his flight from Dallas to Denver Wednesday morning.
"I was in first class on my flight and I just looked and there was DeMarcus Ware," Talib laughed. "He flew in with me. That's when it really hit me that he might be here with me."
The two players were sitting diagonal from one another, and Talib made the connection right away. For Ware, it didn't come until they got off the plane.
"The crazy thing was I didn't even know who he was, because I wouldn't think he'd be on the plane," Ware laughed. "So we were walking through the airport and he was like, 'Man, I've got to put my clothes on. I've got a press conference.' I'm looking at him like, who is that? He was like, 'Hey, man, I'm Talib.' I was like, 'Oh, man! What's up?'"
But it was more than just a fun meeting between two future Broncos.
It might have helped close the deal for Ware before he even arrived at Dove Valley.
"Actually, I came here for a visit to see what they had to say. But one of the more enticing things was looking back behind me and seeing Talib on the plane with me," Ware said. "Going back and forth, it felt good. I said, 'You know what? I see exactly what they're doing.' So it was good."
"When I looked back there in that back seat and I see Talib, I'm like, 'You know what? They're trying to get the job done.'"
