ENGLEWOOD, Colo. -- Safety Rahim Moore and the defensive backs have been logging some extra study hours, and on Sunday night's victory over the Steelers, it paid off.
Moore said on Tuesday that a group has been coming in every day at 5:45 a.m. for a film session. Against Pittsburgh, the second-year safety was one of four Broncos to play in every defensive snap of the game – all 81. In breaking down the game film, Moore believes he looked "more comfortable than (he) ever (has)."
"I made more plays on the ball and (did) more in the run game," Moore said. "It just shows the film study I put in – getting here at 5:45 with Tracy Porter and the rest of the guys, just watching film. That's what makes you feel more comfortable out there."
In the 31-19 win, Denver's secondary kept the Steelers' receiving corps – one that Champ Bailey called "the fastest (they'll) see" – from getting loose. The Steelers didn't complete a pass of more than 30 yards.
Moore, who made four tackles and a pass deflection on Sunday night, credited the team's preparation.
"We just want to get an extra edge, so we do it every day," Moore said. "That's what it takes. That's why we're here and that's what will keep us here."
This week, the Broncos defense will prepare for another tough task in facing an Atlanta Falcons offense that put up 40 points in its first game, scoring on its first eight possessions. Moore knows the defense will have to do its homework once again to leave Atlanta with a victory.
"We've moved on," he said. "It was a great start but each week it's getting harder and harder. This is a great team we're playing against, the Atlanta Falcons. They have so many weapons and we're definitely going to have to come out there with the same intensity and the same focus that we had this past week."
In Atlanta's Week 1 victory, quarterback Matt Ryan threw for 299 yards, two touchdowns and no interceptions. Second-year wide receiver Julio Jones racked up more than 100 yards receiving to go with his two touchdowns. The Broncos will also be going up against Pro Bowl wideout Roddy White, who has caught 100 passes or more in each of the last two seasons.
"We're looking forward to it," Moore said. "We're not too anxious. We're just going to do what we do – watch film and take our time. When the time has come, we'll go out there and play hard."
