ENGLEWOOD, Colo. --On Wednesday, the Broncos added yet another piece to a secondary that cornerback Champ Bailey already called "stacked."

Defensive back Quentin Jammer signed with the club, joining cornerback Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie as the second free-agent addition in the secondary.

"Great team, great coaches," Jammer said of why he chose Denver. "I'm looking forward to winning a lot of football games."

The 12th-year player spent his first 11 NFL seasons with the San Diego Chargers, where he saw action in 172 regular-season games, starting 161.

In his career, Jammer has accumulated 727 tackles, 21 interceptions, 130 passes defensed, seven forced fumbles and seven fumble recoveries.

He has also added 29 tackles, two interceptions and 10 passes defensed in eight postseason starts.

Now the former division rival of cornerback Champ Bailey gets to join the future Hall of Famer, and he couldn't be happier.

"That's the most exciting part about it," Jammer said. "He'll definitely go down as a Hall-of-Fame corner in this league. It'll be great to get out and pick his brain a little bit. Because even in my old age, I'm always learning. I can learn a lot from a guy like Champ Bailey."

Jammer has started at least 14 games in each of the last 10 seasons, including all 16 in 2012, when he grabbed three interceptions and returned one for a touchdown -- a Peyton Manning pass in what would become the Broncos' memorable comeback victory on Monday Night Football.

He was originally a first-round pick in the 2002 NFL Draft out of the University of Texas.

Jammer is the third former Charger to join the team this offseason along with guard Louis Vasquez and linebacker Shaun Phillips. "It's great to have familiar faces," Jammer said. "Jacob Hester was one of my good friends at San Diego as well. So I'm looking forward to getting to work now."
