ENGLEWOOD, Colo. — Safety Brandon Jones suffered a hamstring injury during Friday's practice, and Head Coach Sean Payton said Jones will undergo further evaluation.

"Early in practice, he tweaked his hamstring," Payton said. "He went in. We'll evaluate and see where he's at. … We'll get a follow-up and see how significant it is."

Jones joined the Broncos in free agency and played alongside P.J. Locke at safety during the offseason program and in the early days of training camp.

Devon Key, JL Skinner and Omar Brown are among the other safeties on the Broncos' active roster. Caden Sterns and Delarrin Turner-Yell are both on the Physically Unable to Perform list.

While Jones undergoes further evaluation, outside linebacker Nik Bonitto should soon return to practice. The third-year player has worked on a side field during each of the last two practices.

"I think you'll see him back tomorrow," Payton said of Bonitto.

Guard Nick Gargiulo returned to work on a side field after leaving practice early on Wednesday and not participating on Thursday.
