ENGLEWOOD, Colo. --Danny Trevathan practiced for the first time since suffering a crack above his knee early in the Week 6 win over the Jets, but the Broncos worked without linebacker Brandon Marshall and cornerbacks Kayvon Webster and Aqib Talib as they began preparing for the Kansas City Chiefs on Wednesday.

Tight end Julius Thomas was also on the field after missing last week's game because of a sprained ankle, but did not practice, instead working with the strength and conditioning coaches. Thomas did not practice last week, but he was on the field watching during the week.

Trevathan became eligible to return to practice Wednesday as part of the procedure for players on the recallable injured reserve list, but will not be able to play until Week 15 at San Diego.

Head Coach John Fox said Monday that he planned to give Trevathan some scout-team repetitions over the next two weeks to ease him back into game fitness. Trevathan will remain on the injured-reserve list and not count against the 53-man roster for another two weeks.

"He had a good practice," Fox said.

Talib watched practice in sweats, talking with Defensive Coordinator Jack Del Rio and his fellow cornerbacks as they went through their paces during the first periods of the session. He suffered a hamstring injury early in last Sunday's win over Miami and made a brief attempt to return later before bowing out.

Marshall is in the NFL-mandated post-concussion protocol, which calls for evaluations that include examinations from an independent neurologist.

Running backs Montee Ball and Ronnie Hillman also did not practice because of groin and foot injuries, respectively.
