ENGLEWOOD, Colo. -- Cornerback Aqib Talib and tight end Julius Thomas practiced Wednesday as the Broncos began their preparations for the Buffalo Bills, but Demaryius Thomas was limited because of an ankle problem.
Head Coach John Fox said the fifth-year wide receiver "got stepped on" during practice.
Neither Talib nor Thomas played in Kansas City last Sunday after testing out their injuries prior to the game. Talib has not played since suffering a hamstring strain against Miami on Nov. 23, and had one day of limited practice work the following week.
Talib had a full workload Wednesday, while Julius Thomas was limited.
The fourth-year tight end was also limited in three days of practice last week, but ended up sitting out at Arrowhead Stadium. He said Monday that he was "encouraged" with his progress, but that he needed to strengthen the ankle that he injured in St. Louis on Nov. 16. Thomas said Monday he was "day-to-day."
Center Will Montgomery saw limited work Wednesday because of a knee problem.
Jacob Tamme did not practice because of a rib injury. He stood in sweats and a practice jersey, watching his fellow tight ends go through their paces.
Joining Tamme on the sideline was wide receiver Wes Welker, who was held out of practice per what Fox called a "team decision."
Running backs Ronnie Hillman and Montee Ball also did not practice, but both worked with the team's strength and conditioning coaches between the fields.
Cornerback Kayvon Webster and safety Quinton Carter also did not practice because of shoulder and knee injuries, respectively.
