Injury Report: Von Miller feels 'really good' about chances to face Washington if ankle continues to heal at current rate

ENGLEWOOD, Colo. — Outside linebacker Von Miller did not practice for the third consecutive day on Thursday, but the eight-time Pro Bowler could still be available for Sunday's game against Washington.

"If I'm not able to practice this week and I'm feeling really good on game day or even Saturday, I feel like I could still be able to [play]," Miller said.

Head Coach Vic Fangio said that with Miller's status as a veteran player, he would feel "a little bit more comfortable" playing him even after limited practice time. Fangio did not rule out Miller for Friday's practice or Sunday's game.

Miller, who said last week he thought he could have returned in the second half against the Browns, battled a bit more discomfort than expected in the days following the game.

"I think the first few days afterwards he was having a hard time pushing off of it," Fangio said. "I think that's alleviated some. … He went from, 'I'll be ready next week,' to 'Whoa,' to now I think he's somewhere in between those two right now."

Miller noted that if his injury continues to heal at the same rate, he believes he could be ready to play against Washington.

"The way I'm feeling today, if I can keep making these types of improvements, I feel really good about my chances," Miller said.

Excluding his season-ending injury in 2020, Miller has missed just one game since the start of the 2014 season.

Nose tackle Mike Purcell (thumb) and Jamar Johnson (quad) also were not expected to practice Thursday.

Fangio also noted the Broncos will be without outside linebacker Bradley Chubb for at least one more week.

"[His] return won't be next week [and] probably not the following week," Fangio said. "And then after that is when you can start asking the question a little bit more."

Fangio's timeline could put Chubb back in the lineup after the Broncos' bye week for a Week 12 matchup against the Chargers.

Chubb underwent arthroscopic surgery on his ankle following the Broncos' Week 2 game against Jacksonville.
