ENGLEWOOD, Colo. — Denver seems poised to regain a defensive starter ahead of a Week 10 matchup vs. the Chiefs.

Safety P.J. Locke was a full participant for the third consecutive practice this week and was not assigned a game status ahead of Sunday's matchup in Kansas City. Locke returned to practice this week after missing the Broncos' Week 8 game against the Panthers and Week 9 game against the Ravens.

The lack of an injury designation suggests a player will be available to play.

"He had a good week," Head Coach Sean Payton said Friday of Locke. "He's feeling well. We'll see where he's at, but it was good to get him back on the field going and literally getting defensive reps."

Payton said Locke would wear a "small cast" during games for "a certain time frame."

Locke told a group of reporters he wanted to be on the field "by any means necessary" against the Chiefs.

"I think we have something special going here," Locke said. "I don't think anybody wants to miss that."

Center Luke Wattenberg (ankle) was a full participant on Friday and is listed as questionable for Sunday's matchup. The Broncos designated Wattenberg for return from injured reserve on Wednesday.

Safety Delarrin Turner-Yell (knee) was a full participant on Friday, but he was ruled out of Sunday's game. Linebacker Drew Sanders (Achilles), who was a limited participant on Friday, was also ruled out. Both players remain on the Physically Unable to Perform list.

Defensive tackle D.J. Jones (knee), defensive end Zach Allen (not injury related – rest) and tackle Mike McGlinchey (knee) were all full participants on Friday and also were not assigned game statuses.

Denver is set to kick off against Kansas City at 11 a.m. MT on Sunday.
