ENGLEWOOD, Colo. — Inside linebacker Alexander Johnson will miss the remainder of the 2021 season with a torn pectoral, Head Coach Vic Fangio announced Monday.

Johnson suffered the injury late in the first half against the Raiders, and he did not return to the game in the second half.

The fourth-year player finishes the year with two sacks, one fumble recovery, three passes defensed, two tackles for loss and 32 tackles.

Inside linebacker Micah Kiser replaced Johnson and played 18 defensive snaps in the second half.

The Broncos will also be without inside linebacker Baron Browning on Thursday against the Browns, as he suffered a concussion and will not be able to advance through the protocol before game time.

Fangio said the Broncos would likely need to bring up one or two linebackers from the practice squad to help replace Johnson. Curtis Robinson and Barrington Wade are the current options on the Broncos' practice squad.

Johnson joins Josey Jewell as the Broncos' second starting inside linebacker to be ruled out for the season with a pectoral injury.

"They'll look at it," Fangio said of the team's training staff. "It seems to be a more common injury nowadays around the NFL than it has been in the past."

Fangio said that Garett Bolles, who exited last in Sunday's game, had a lower-leg injury and will be day to day. Outside linebacker Andre Mintze underwent an MRI on Monday on his injured hamstring. Fangio expected Tim Patrick to be OK after running into the bench during the second half of Sunday's game.

As the Broncos begin their preparation for Week 7, it seems they could be without Jerry Jeudy for at least one more week.

Fangio said Jeudy would run routes at full speed this week, but he was uncertain about Jeudy's availability.

"We'll try and get a barometer on that," Fangio said. "We'll see. I think the chances of him playing are less than 50 percent right now."
