ENGLEWOOD, Colo. –Cornerback Chris Harris Jr. officially signed his restricted free agent tender contract on Tuesday.

"I'm just glad to get it over with and be able to know I'll be here one more year," Harris said after signing the contract. "I'm definitely happy. This is where I want to be and to be able to play here another year, I'm all in to be a leader on the defense and get us back to the Super Bowl."

Harris' tender offer was at the right-of-first-refusal plus a second-round pick level. That means the Broncos would have had five days to match an offer sheet presented to Harris by another team. If the Broncos chose not to match it, the team that signed Harris would have owed Denver a second-round pick.

For his career, Harris has made 191 tackles to go with seven interceptions and 2.5 sacks in 47 career regular-season games that include 31 starts. He has returned two interceptions for touchdowns and totaled 29 pass breakups while recovering a pair of fumbles.

Since his rookie season in 2011, Harris eads the Broncos with seven interceptions. No other Bronco has more than four in that span. His 29 pass breakups also leads the Broncos over the past three seasons.

Harris' 191 tackles since 2011 rank 10th among all cornerbacks.

He has returned his seven career interceptions for 160 yards, and his two pick-sixes tie for eighth among all players since 2011.

In 2013, Harris' three interceptions tied for the team lead and his 65 tackles were second-most among Broncos' defensive backs.

The previous season, Harris was one of just two defensive backs in the league to record multiple interceptions, sacks and interceptions returned for a touchdown. His 98-yard pick-six at Baltimore on Dec. 16, 2012 was the longest such play in franchise history.

Named to the 2011 NFL All-Rookie Team by the PFW/PFWA and Football Outsiders, Harris appeared in all 16 games as a rookie after joining the Broncos as a college free agent.
