DENVER — In recognition of Mike Shanahan's induction into the Ring of Fame and Steve Atwater's enshrinement into the Pro Football Hall of Fame, the Broncos will celebrate the two legends' recent honors over the upcoming Alumni Weekend, culminating with ceremonies during the team's Week 6 game against the Raiders on Sunday.
Fans are welcome to join in on the festivities, which begin on Friday at 6 p.m. MT with Shanahan's pillar unveiling at the Ring of Fame Plaza on the south side of Empower Field at Mile High. Atwater's Hall of Fame bust will also be on display for the first time in Denver at the event.
After the public event, the team will host a private dinner and program honoring Shanahan and Atwater.
On Saturday, Broncos alumni will visit UCHealth Training Center to attend the team's practice before the game.
On game day, the lineup of Alumni Weekend activities will continue beginning with a ceremony honoring Atwater before the start of the game. Fans are encouraged to be in their seats by 2 p.m. MT for the event. Atwater will address the crowd, and the Hall of Fame's logo will be unveiled next to his name on the Ring of Fame façade in the stadium. A representative from the Pro Football Hall of Fame will also be on hand to present Atwater with his Pro Football Hall of Fame Ring of Excellence.
The Alumni Weekend's festivities will culminate in a halftime ceremony honoring Shanahan, who was elected into the Ring of Fame in 2020. The two-time Super Bowl-winning head coach's name will be unveiled on the Ring of Fame façade on Level 5 of Empower Field at Mile High as he officially becomes the 34th member of the Ring of Fame.
Former Broncos quarterback Peyton Manning, elected to the Pro Football Hall of Fame and Broncos Ring of Fame this year, will be recognized for those honors during Denver's Week 8 game against the Washington Football Team.
Fellow Pro Football Hall of Fame Class of 2021 inductee and former Broncos safety John Lynch will receive his Hall of Fame ring in Tampa on Nov. 22.
Editor's note: An earlier version of this article mistakenly stated that Atwater would receive his Hall of Fame ring during the private banquet on Friday; he will receive his ring during the pregame presentation on Sunday.
