The 2025 NFL Draft is about two months away, and NFL analysts are starting to turn their attention to draft projections, including whom the Broncos could select with the 20th-overall pick in April's draft. As we near the start of Round 1, we've curated several recent mocks from national reporters and analysts to compile the following overview:
Round 1, No. 20 overall:
Field Yates, ESPN: RB Ashton Jeanty, Boise State
"Jeanty would take over the lead role behind an excellent offensive line (the Broncos ranked first in run block win rate in 2024) and pair with second-year quarterback Bo Nix to give coach Sean Payton an offensive boost. Jeanty can be a Pro Bowl-level player very early in his career, as his speed, power, contact balance and receiving profile are all excellent." [Feb. 11]
Nick Baumgardner, The Athletic: TE Colston Loveland, Michigan
"It's very possible Loveland is the first tight end off the board, despite all of Warren's highlights and 2024 stat advantages. Loveland is a better route runner, and though he's not as powerful as Warren, his run blocking during Michigan's 2023 title run was more than fine. Sean Payton might do cartwheels if Loveland is still on the board here." [Feb. 10]
Trevor Sikkema, Pro Football Focus: TE Colston Loveland, Michigan
"Loveland to the Broncos is becoming a common mock draft pairing. Not only are the Broncos looking to improve their passing weapons overall, but specifically, they could use more production from the tight end spot. Loveland will likely be more of a slot type of tight end than a true inline player, but that also leans into what the Broncos could want in Sean Payton's offense, which has a history of getting a lot of production out of receiving tight ends." [Feb. 9]
Charles McDonald, Yahoo! Sports: DL Shemar Stewart, Texas A&M
"The Broncos' defense is close to being the elite, all-round unit they wanted to be in 2024, but they just need some more help along the defensive line. Stewart has upside through the roof, but is still a little rough around the edges."
Michael Middlehurst-Schwartz, USA TODAY: TE Colston Loveland, Michigan
"Sean Payton has made clear his intent to find his signature joker, a versatile skill-position player who can create mismatches thanks to their versatility and abundant athleticism. That sounds a lot like Loveland, who would slide into the role comfortably given his ability to break away from defenders mid-route or with the ball in his hands." [Feb. 10]
Bleacher Report: TE Tyler Warren, Penn State
"Penn State's Tyler Warren can give Sean Payton the type of weapon at tight end that he hasn't had since Jimmy Graham played for the New Orleans Saints." [Feb. 10]
Vinnie Iyer, The Sporting News: TE Colston Loveland, Michigan
"The Broncos also haven't had a big-time receiving tight end in a while. Loveland is a complete player with his strength and athleticism. He would be a choice intermediate target and plus blocker for Bo Nix and the running game, serving as a potential new Jimmy Graham for Sean Payton and Joe Lombardi." [Feb. 10]
Mike Renner, CBS Sports: WR Emeka Egbuka, Ohio State
"The Broncos need some semblance of reliability at their wide receiver position across from Courtland Sutton. Egbuka has the advanced and consistent route-running chops to pair well with Bo Nix's anticipatory play style." [Feb. 10]
Lance Zierlein, NFL.com: TE Colston Loveland, Michigan
"Building around Bo Nix should be the priority in Denver. Adding an athletic pass catcher with good size like Loveland could be high on the Broncos' list of priorities." [Feb. 3, updated Feb. 9]
Cynthia Frelund, NFL.com: TE Colston Loveland, Michigan
"Give Sean Payton this mismatch weapon and see what happens. Bo Nix, rightfully, would lose his mind if Denver were to make this pick." [Feb.7]
Tom Fornelli, CBS Sports: WR Emeka Egbuka, Ohio State
"[An] impressive route runner who has no qualms about mixing it up as a run-blocker when called upon (though not as good as Ward was). He spent his entire college career in the shadow of another top wide receiver (Jaxson Smith-Njigba, Marvin Harrison Jr., Jeremiah Smith), but that says a lot more about Ohio State's receiver room than Egbuka." [Feb. 7]
Josh Edwards, CBS Sports: WR Luther Burden III, Missouri
"The projection of Luther Burden III is ill-timed considering Sean Payton came out this week and said that he feels better about the wide receiver room than outsiders. Boise State running back Ashton Jeanty, Michigan tight end Colston Loveland or Penn State tight end Tyler Warren make more sense, but none were available in this situation." [Feb. 6]
Joe Schad, The Palm Beach Post: WR Emeka Egbuka, Ohio State [Feb. 6]
Matt Miller, ESPN: TE Colston Loveland, Michigan
"Loveland is one of my favorite players in the entire class; he'd give coach Sean Payton and quarterback Bo Nix another target in the passing game to complement receiver Courtland Sutton. Loveland, who battled through injuries in 2024, can line up all over the formation but is at his best as a flex tight end. He ran the full route tree at Michigan and has the grace of a wide receiver at 6-foot-5 and 245 pounds." [Feb. 3]
Eric Edholm, NFL.com: TE Colston Loveland, Michigan
"It would spice up the AFC West a bit if Sean Payton were to snipe Jim Harbaugh's former tight end at Michigan. Denver needs weapons, and Loveland could be a special one for Bo Nix." [Jan. 31]
Bucky Brooks, NFL.com: S Malaki Starks, Georgia
"Giving Vance Joseph another high-IQ defender would help the Broncos' defense sustain its impressive level of play. Starks' instincts, awareness and toughness make him an ideal fit in a "see ball, get ball" scheme." [Jan. 29]
Daniel Jeremiah, NFL.com: S Nick Emmanwori, South Carolina
"Emmanwori gave me some Derwin James vibes when I studied him. I love his instincts and production." [Jan. 25]
Mel Kiper Jr., ESPN: RB Ashton Jeanty, Boise State
"He's a top-10 prospect with incredible elusiveness. Jeanty piled up 2,601 rushing yards and 29 rushing scores this season." [Jan. 22]
