ENGLEWOOD, Colo. --Five Broncos -- including four starters -- were held out of practice as the Broncos returned to the field Wednesday in advance of their weekend trip to Oakland to face the Raiders.

Defensive end Adam Gotsis (ankle), tight end Jeff Heuerman (knee), outside linebacker Shane Ray (wrist and ankle), wide receiver Emmanuel Sanders (ankle) and cornerback Aqib Talib (shoulder) did not participate in Wednesday's practice.

Sanders missed the Weeks 7 and 8 games against the Chargers and Chiefs because of an ankle injury but has played in the Broncos' last three games. Ray missed the first six games because of torn wrist ligaments but returned in Week 8 at Kansas City and notched his first sack of the season against the Bengals last Sunday.

Heuerman missed the Bengals game because of a knee injury.
