ENGLEWOOD, Colo. — Denver Broncos alumnus and Vice President of Security Keith Bishop has been selected as the team's nominee for the 2024 Salute to Service Award presented by USAA, it was announced.
A former offensive lineman for the Broncos from 1980-89, Bishop oversees the team's entire security group comprised of current and retired Colorado law enforcement personnel. Bishop maintains working relationships with local, state and federal law enforcement as well as fire departments, emergency response personnel, military and the intelligence community to help safeguard the organization and enhance security training opportunities.
Prior to joining the Broncos' front office in 2012, Bishop worked in federal law enforcement as a Special Agent for the United States Department of Justice Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) for 20 years. He received the DEA Administrator's Award three times during his federal law enforcement career (1997, 2002, '08) and was selected by the International Association of Chiefs of Police as one of the nation's top police officers.
He is a board member for the Center of American Values and is a supporter of the nonprofit Freedom Service Dogs. The Center for American Values mission is to honor the extreme sacrifices made to help sustain America's values and to ensure these extraordinary values as preserved. Freedom Service Dogs trains service dogs to be paired with veterans and first responders with PTSD or a traumatic brain injury.
The Salute to Service Award is part of the NFL and USAA's year-round commitment to recognize and honor the military community. Each year, the NFL and its 32 teams come together to recognize and empower members of the military as part of the NFL's Salute to Service initiative.
