ENGLEWOOD, Colo. --For cornerback Champ Bailey, participating in a limited basis on Wednesday and Thursday for the first time since Week 7 was all about testing his foot.
"I'm definitely not sure I'll play this week, but I just want to get some days in and try to feel it out and see where I am," Bailey said after Thursday's practice.
Bailey said he wasn't sure he could've prevented himself from aggravating his foot injury against the Indianapolis Colts other than not having played at all -- "and I can't imagine that happening."
For now, he said his foot feels "a little better," and even though it's not progressing as quickly as he would like, it's still progressing.
Interim Head Coach/Defensive Coordinator Jack Del Rio said it's great just to see Bailey on the practice field again.
"We'll see how the week goes and anticipate getting him back at some point, full-go and for the games," he said. "He's a true professional. Everything he does, the way he conducts himself, it's a great example for our football players—for our younger players to understand what it looks like. So hats off to Champ and glad to have him back."
Whether or not he's able to suit up on Sunday, Bailey's teammates were happy to see him getting back into the routine of practice.
"I'm actually happy to see him out there. I do miss playing with him," safety Rahim Moore said. "He'll be back soon – when the time is right and he's feeling 105 percent."
Bailey said that's the only way he can approach it.
"I know when I feel good again I'm going to do everything I can to go out there," he said. "I try to play when I'm healthy and if I'm not try to do whatever I can to get back as soon as possible. That's how I'm going to approach it whether it's year two or year 15 like I am now. That's the only approach it takes to get back out there."
